Striker Crisis shoots up for Man Utd as Solskjaer might retire

Manchester United striker Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, the widely know as a Super-sub might call it a day . Solskjaer who has been suffering from knee injury in recent years, is all to set to announce his retirement from Red Devils team. His announcement could have come at this time where Man utd are well short of striker, with Rooney and Saha injured.

Adding to that , Fegie has also sold Alan Smith and Rossi only a few days ago. Crisis filled Argentine Carloz Tevez is the lone striker for United and has not upto it's standards. Giggs is trying to assist him in front, but it's of no use.

At this situation Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is expected to announce his retirement within 24 hours from now. Berbatov has denied links with the Red Devils atleast for this month. There is not much time left for Fergie to buy a striker to fill the vaccum created by Smith, Rossi, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Rooney and Saha due to injury. It would be interesting to see if Fergie makes a panic buy for striker.

The Norwegian forward, who scored the winner in the Champions League final against Bayern Munich as United won the Treble in 1999, made several comebacks in the last four years but has failed to fully overcome the problem.Solskjaer, dubbed the 'Baby-Faced Assasin', joined United from Molde for £1.5million in 1996 and has firmly established himself as a hero at Old Trafford.

One thing for sure is Manchester United and it's fans including me will miss the service of the 'Baby-Faced Assasin' Solskjaer.

UNITED OF THE MARK

Premiership champions Manchester United recorded their first victory of the season beating Tottenham Hotspurs . United having the lion's share of possession dominated the match throughout . Spurs looked to get past United on three occasions but on 68 minutes United's new Portuguese signing Nani blasted a scorcher from almost 30 yards and Spurs keeper Robinson had no answer to it. Spurs were denied two clear cut penalties in which replays clearly shows that Wes Brown had handled the ball in the box and one erratic Vidic tackle. Dimitar Berbatov was a major threat to United but he was unable to put the ball behind the net . This win will pull United out of the relegation zone and they have 5 points in hand.

Final Score:

Man United 1 Tottenham 0

Scorers:

Nani 68'

Arsene WEnger eyes Title Challenge

CITY SUFFER DEFEAT AT LAST

Manchester City suffered their first defeat of their campaign under the management of Sven Goran Eriksson. City who were on a high after their derby win over Manchester United traveled to the Emirates Stadium to face Arsenal. Although Arsenal were without their new captain, William Gallas they seemed to control the game from the start . The Goalkeepers of the both the team were unchallenged in the first half . Arsenal keeper Almunia was the first to be challenged by City striker Emile Mpenza . And after that it was Arsenal throughout. Kasper Schmeichel saved a penalty off Robin Van Persie and a long range shot from Denilson, but he had no answer to Cesc Fabregas's shot from the near post. This goal was the first one conceded by the Danish goalkeeper.

Spurs back with a Bang against Derby County

Malbranque scored twice in the opening 6 minutes as Spurs crushed the under dogs Derby who failed to capitalize on the poor form of Spurs. Spurs made the worst possible start to this season with losing both their games .

Derby who drew with Portsmouth and got a point had the upper hand before the start of the match. But it was Spurs who dominated the proceeding right from the start of the match. First goal came at just 2 minutes on the clock. Malbranque doubled his tally in the sixth minute. Third goal was the best of all the best.

Jenas got the ball from the Derby player and made a long run from the half line and finished in a best possible fashion scoring from out of the box. Spurs captain Keane came close to score on more than one occasion but failed to finish them.

Spurs new boy Tarabat was the highlight of the day. He took the crowd to joy right from his entry. This is a memorable debut for the youngster. He was totally dominating in the mid field. he was speed, aggressive and had great dribbling skills and ball control. Spurs fans went aloud whenever he had the ball. Darrent Bent finished of with a easy heading to their 4 th goal and the pride of Derby was completely hurt.

More Transfer news- Mido moves to Boro and Dyer goes to Hammers

Even after the season started last week, the transfer market doesn't seem to end. The 2 clubs which started this season in a losing note signed players of good quality. Middlebrough signed the Spurs striker Mido and West Ham have signed their long awaited Dyer.

The Egyptian International striker from Spurs had some relief after he was signed by Boro for 6 million Pounds for a four year deal. Mido surely will not find a first team place after Spurs signed berbatove last year and Bent this year. This adds their striker strength to 4 which includes Keane, Defoe, Berbatove and bent. So it's a perfect time for Mido to make the switch and get some striking chances at Boro who lost Viduka to New Castle. Good luck for Mido to do well at Boro.

West Ham have added more stability and strenght to their mid field in the form of kieron Dyer. Hammers have signed Dyer from New Castle for a undisclosed fee . From some external sources I learnt that the fee could be around 6m to 8m pounds. The England International will join his Ex-New-Castle team mates parker and Bellamy with who he doesn't have a good relationship.

Jose Mourrinho who haven't been involved in a big transfer budget seems to be adament on signing Daniel Alves from Sevilla. Sevilla have rejected a bid of 21.5 million Pounds from chelsea. But Chelsea have made their intentions clear that they will sign him by this August. Chelsea are expected to increase their bid for the Brazilian Right back who has great goal creation and goal scoring abilities.

Title hopes dims for the Red Devils as Christiano Ronaldo faces 3 match ban

Christiano Ronaldo failed to learn from Zidane the impact of a head butt as he haedbutted Hughes and was sent off immediately. But it also means that he faces 3 match ban and will miss the matches against Manchester City, Sunderland and Tottenham.

This is a big blow for the Defending champions who has already without their start striker Wayne Rooney. Title hopes are clearly out of reach for Manchester United, while the last season runners Chelsea are going clear with 2 wins from 2 matches.

Two new Premiership downfall and contenders

This premiership start saw the downfall of Manchester United and Spurs . The Red devils drew their first 2 matches of the premier league while the super spender Spurs lost both their matches. Manchester united has spent more than 50 Millions pound in the transfer market which saw their worst possible start. Their new signings Owen hargreaves and Anderson is yet to make their premiership debut while the crisis filled Tevez made very little impact in the 90 minutes. Nani who replaced Rooney in the first match and started the match against Portsmouth did not impress much.

With all the four new signings yet to make a impact , the Red Devils lost Rooney due to injury and wil; be out of action for the next couple of months. Only player who made some chances for Manchester united was ronaldo who played brilliantly against Portsmouth was sent off for head butting. This draw and ronaldo's red card clearly signs the title loss for the champions.

Spurs who spent actively in the transfer market played the worst form of football losing to both Sunderland and then to Everton who clearly dominated the Spurs in all the aspects of the game.

This premiership season also saw the growth of two new title contenders apart from the top 4. This two clubs are Manchester City and Everton. Both played attacking football while defending perfectly. Another club that needs attraction is New Castle United who scored 3-0 in their starting fixture. Their new signings Smith and Geremi played a important part in their success.

The 3 teams of the top 4 made a positive start with Chelsea , Arsenal and Liverpool winning their starting matches comfortably.

Arsenal and Liverpool also made a winning start to their Champions League qualifiers.

Defending Champions Manchester United loses both Rooney and Ronaldo for their rivals clash

Defending Champions lost their star striker Wayne Rooney on their starting match of the premier league against Reading due to a accidental injury. The match too ended in a goalless draw. After the match Fergusun confirmed that Wayne Rooney has suffered a fracture and will be out of action for atleast 2 months. A big blow for the Red Devils who already have both their strikers Saha and Solskjer injured. With Smith and Rossi sold out Manchester United had to depend on Carloz Tevez and Ronaldo.

As expected both Tevez and Nani started the match against the Pompeys, which too ended in a 1-1 draw. Adding salt to injury Christiano Ronaldo was sent off during the closing minutes of the match. This means that the defending Champions will be without Rooney and Ronaldo for their clash agaisnt their arch rivals Manchester City on Sunday.

The bad start by the champions is a clear sign of defeat. From now it's going to be really hard for them to battle for the title. With just 2 points out of 2 matches Man utd is far away from their counterparts Chelsea who has 6 points out of 2 matches.

Chopra wins the first game of the Premier League 2007-08

Micheal Chopra scored in the dieing minutes of the first match of their premier league starter. Super spender Spurs was defeated by the only goal of the match by Chopra in the 93rd minute.

Roy keane the Ex-Captain of the Red Devils started his premier league campaign successfully. Sunderland held Spurs for 92 minutes and then their substitute scored in the added time to get their first premiership victory in style.
